At CES 2022 in Las Vegas, Chrysler Unveiled their new EV concept: the Airflow. This new model reflects the beginning of an ambitious shift for the company. As one of America’s most beloved car brands for the past 96 years, Chrysler now wants to tackle the electric market. The brand has set some impressive benchmarks for themselves; they intend to release their first battery electric vehicle by 2025, and intend to offer an all-electric lineup by 2028. With six years to go, it should come as no surprise that Chrysler’s engineers are working hard and fast on designing innovative new vehicles.

One of the most notable aspects of the new Airflow concept is its groundbreaking design. The EV elevates Chrysler’s sleek design language to match the electric trends of the 21st century. The concept’s Arctic White color conveys a sense of calm, while a crystal LED taillight taking up the whole width of the car helps to emphasize the car’s wide stance. There is lighting for every situation, including welcome and departure, and even a custom blue color for when the car is charging.

The inside is equally attractive, and evokes a similar feeling of serenity. A light color palette is inspired by airy, open, lounges, an area that Chrysler says is intended to be a transitional space between home and work. Flowing lines all over provide an aesthetically pleasing backdrop for drivers and passengers. In keeping with the theme of sustainability and being environmentally friendly, the car is furnished with luxurious upholstery including vegetable-tanned leather and floor mats, fabric, and carpeting made of recycled materials. Chrysler intends to showcase that sustainability can be desirable, and has done an excellent job in the process.

As the sustainable car market grows, consumers are faced with a lot of offerings. Each brand has its own niche; Tesla is innovative, Rivian is rugged, Porsche’s offerings are sporty. With the Airlow concept, Chrysler shows that it wants to be known as the provider of smooth, sustainable luxury.
