A few months after Ram announced the return of the iconic 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 eTorque engine to the 1500 lineup, the first 2026 Ram 1500 trucks featuring the HEMI V-8 are now shipping to dealerships across the country.

Within the first 24 hours after the announcement that the HEMI V-8 engine would be making a comeback, Ram received over 10,000 orders. The Ram team and employees at Sterling Heights Assembly Plant worked hard in preparation for the return of the HEMI based on consumer feedback.

The HEMI V-8 eTorque engine is available in select 2026 Ram 1500 models including Big Horn, Express, Laramie, Limited, Longhorn, Rebel (with late availability), Tradesman, and Warlock.

To commemorate its return, the Ram design team developed a new fender-mounted “Symbol of Protest” emblem featuring the Ram’s head on top of a V-8 engine block to mark each HEMI-powered 2026 Ram 1500.

With 395 maximum available horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 delivers a powerhouse under the hood with upgraded fuel-saving technologies such as cylinder deactivation and camshaft timing. The class-exclusive eTorque hybrid system that is now standard to all 2026 Ram 1500 models equipped with the HEMI V-8 uses a belt-driven motor generator as a replacement for the conventional engine-mounted alternator for enhanced engine torque during initial acceleration and gear shifts. The motor generator works in tandem with a 48-volt battery system for seamless engine start and stop functionality and regenerative braking capabilities.

Powerful performance and capability is the framework for the new Ram 1500 models to handle truck buyers’ every day needs. Each 2026 Ram 1500 equipped with the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 offers a maximum available towing capability of 11,320 pounds and a maximum payload of 2,360 pounds.

Previously seen only on Laramie and Rebel G/T models but now standard on all HEMI-equipped trucks is a distinctive, factory-installed exhaust system that delivers the unmistakable roar Ram enthusiasts love.

With the 2026 Ram 1500 lineup soon to hit markets across the country, Ram continues to deliver reliable performance and capability as one of the leading light-duty pickup brands in North America.
