As cars become more environmentally friendly and focused on gas mileage, manufacturers are moving away from the gas guzzling muscle cars of years past. Dodge, however, wants to go out with a bang. The 2023 Dodge Charger and Challengers are being released with a bevy of new colors and models to celebrate the models' end. Each new model is inspired by a vintage muscle car of the 60s and 70s. At the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, Dodge Speed Week hinted at each new model with graphics.

Through the rest of the year, the manufacturer will release each model individually, but they have released some information already. Dodge will be bringing back three classic colors: B5 Blue, Plum Crazy purple and Sublime Green. All told, the Charger and Challenger will feature 14 exterior color options. This level of choice is sure to be appreciated by classic muscle car enthusiasts. Another cosmetic update is the addition of a brushed aluminum under-hood plate reading "Last Call", in commemoration of the model's last year of production.

In terms of performance, no matter what model you choose, the Charger and Challenger will be more than enough. The base model Challenger has a 305 horsepower V-6 under the hood, but it can be upgraded to a 375 horsepower, 5.7 liter Hemi V-8, or  6.4-liter V-8, which produces 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. With this, the Challenger is a monster on the track, good for a 4.2 second 0-60 mph time and a 176 mile per hour max speed.

The Charger has no less impressive performance. The base model has a respectable 3.6 L, 292 horsepower engine, but the V-6 offers the option of four-wheel drive. However, this can be upgraded to a 5.7 L, 370 horsepower V-8 or even a 6.4 L, 485 horsepower engine in the top of the line model. No matter what model, Dodge ensures that the last model of their flagship muscle cars will be one of the greatest.
