Behold—the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost—a hark back to a Detroit street-racing legend, the original Black Ghost.
Way back in the 1970s, Godfrey Quall’s black 1970 Dodge Challenger RT SE ruled Woodward Avenue. It earned a legendary reputation as it drove off mysteriously into the night, flexing its 426 Hemi-powered muscle. However, the vehicle would disappear for months—leading to the nickname, “Black Ghost.”
In 2020, Quall’s Black Ghost gained a spot on the National Historic Vehicle Register.
The Dodge Challenger Black Ghost also boasts of a unique grille script, 20-by-11-inch satin carbon warp speed wheels, black six-piston Brembo brake system, and Black Mopar hood pins. Interior features include an Alcantara steering wheel with red SRT logo, Alcantara/Laguna leather seats and door bolsters, and a Black Ghost instrumental panel badge.
The 2023 Black Ghost follows the previously launched 2023 Challenger Shakedown, 2023 Charger Super Bee, 2023 Charger Swinger, 2023 Challenger Swinger, and the 2023 Charger King Daytona. These signature send-off models are in celebration of Dodge’s long-running muscle machines based on the performance Scat Pack and Hellcat models.
According to Dodge brand chief executive officer Tim Kuniskis, the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is an exciting prelude to what they are going to unveil with the seventh and last special-edition model.
The first six paid homage to Dodge’s history, and the final “Last Call” could be the most powerful, and will make history anew.
