Recognizing the importance of car security, especially for muscle car owners, Dodge has been taking critical steps in implementing anti-theft systems.

Since 2016, around 3.75 million vehicles have been stolen across America, with thieves taking advantage of automobiles with push-button starting systems and keyless entry. But Dodge has been tackling this issue head on. The company has devised a series of solutions to thwart carjacking efforts. Dodge Challenger and Charger owners can be extra confident with these measures:

Enhanced Security Valet Mode

Using a four-digit code in the radio head unit, the Enhanced Security Valet Mode aims to slow a criminal down. The software will keep the engine at idle speed and limit the engine power output to less than 3 horsepower, preventing thieves from taking off with the car. This feature is now available upon request at Dodge dealers as a flash software upgrade. It will be free of charge for 2021 model year Chargers and Challengers with supercharged Hellcat HEMI engines or 392-cubic-inch HEMI.

The Enhanced Security Valet Mode prevents a fast getaway. However, it doesn’t stop them in their tracks. Dodge has created two other aggressive safety options to make sure no one can create a new key to steal your beloved muscle car.

Key Programming Lockdown

Here’s how thieves steal cars with keyless entry—after smashing a window to gain vehicle access, they use a gadget to set a new key fob. Once this is programmed, they can unlock the doors, start the car and drive it away.

To battle this scenario, the Key Programming Lockdown locks the internal vehicle key system to prevent tampering of the ignition. Set to be rolled out in early 2022, this can be applied to 2015 to current model years of the Challenger and Charger with any engine option.

Intrusion Module

The Intrusion Module is an enhanced vehicle alarm system that activates when it senses unusual vehicle movement or a window being broken. If paired with the Key Programming Lockdown, thieves will not be able to break in nor create a new key without the alarm blaring.

All 2022 model year Dodge Chargers and Challengers are eligible for this feature.

You can be assured of Dodge’s commitment to continuously creating developments to give you peace of mind for your modern Mopar muscle car’s security.
