For many, personal success and self-motivation comes from an unfailing worldview. For Randy Powell, the advice of Samuel Clemens (better known as Mark Twain), that “You’re never wrong if you do the right thing,” are the words that led Randy to forty remarkable years at O'Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Randy interprets Clemens’ words to mean that you should always be honest. This honesty, he says, should extend “to yourself and to those with whom you deal. Be able to admit when you make mistakes.”

Randy’s honesty shines through with his customers. One gushes, “They don't get any better than the crew at O'Daniel’s. Attitude reflects leadership. It starts with the service manager, Randy Powell, and filters right on through to the cashier who checks me out. Randy's staff reflects the professionalism and courtesy that are so often missing in today’s customer service businesses.”

This professionalism and dedication comes from Randy's parents. “My parents taught me to work hard and to be loyal and trustworthy. I hope that I have done that and made them proud,” he says.

Forty years in the industry have also given Randy an appreciation for his work: “Every day is different from the one before. I enjoy the challenges and the rewards of being able to help people solve their problems."

Randy notes that the problems he solves continue to evolve over the years, and he marvels at the evolution of the cars he has worked on: “The biggest difference from when I first started to today is the level of complexity in the vehicles’ systems. On-board computers and networks now run 99% of the systems on today’s vehicles.” He goes on to say that, “In 1977, people were trading in their vehicles in between 50,000 and 80,000 miles. Today, a used car with 100,000 miles on it is no big deal. Not to mention that today’s vehicles very seldom leave their occupants stranded due to a breakdown.”

Needless to say, if you ever have a breakdown, or any other problem, Randy will be there: “I really care about trying to help the customer.”

Congratulations on an incredible forty years with O’Daniel CDJR, Randy. And to many more!
