In April we gladly welcome Spring, rainy days, and another O'Daniel CDJR anniversary. One year ago this month, Melissa Fiandt joined the new car sales team, so we caught up with her to see how it's been going.
A native to northern Indiana, Fiandt joined the O'Daniel new car sales team because she needed a major change in her life. Working behind a desk, cut off from customers, simply wasn't cutting it anymore. Fiandt was looking for a mentally challenging, upbeat, and rewarding career—not just another job— and she thinks she found it at O’Daniel CDJR. In her own words: "My co-workers and the smiles on my customers' faces are the glue that keeps me here. I think for once in my life, I am content right where I'm at."
So what made Fiandt choose the car industry? It's simple. Remember that desire for a rewarding career, from earlier? She experiences that feeling with all of her car sales and can relate to every customer. "Building relationships with our customers is key to this career." For Fiandt it's not just about going through the motions, she believes the car-buying experience should be light and fun instead of stressful—it is a bright and shiny new car after all. Though the customers certainly bring joy to Fiandt's day, the flexibility and complexity of the car industry introduce new challenges to her work constantly, which is just a bonus to Fiandt.
Who's her hero? Fiandt describes her mother as "soft hearted, strong-willed, determined, and dedicated. Simply put, she's amazing.” We’re guessing the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
Any words of wisdom? "Keep talking, and don't give up."
What does Fiandt do off the clock? To start with, she adores spending time with her nephews, Talon and Jax, as well as her dog-daughter Star, running, and floating on any lake she can find. If that wasn't enough to keep most people busy, Fiandt is also a volunteer firefighter at her hometown fire department.
