At the DFW Auto Show in Dallas, Texas, Ram showcased the new 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty Lone Star trucks, which are distributed only in Texas and feature distinguishable "Lone Star" tailgate and interior badges.

Ram redesigned its Heavy Duty line to outpower, out-tow, and outhaul every other pickup providing the best riding, handling, and towing ever while still maintaining comfort. The Heavy Duty has 35,000 pounds of towing capability and 7,680 pounds payload. Active noise cancellation and anti-vibration devices are paired with acoustic glass, creating the quietest cabin yet.

New suspension tuning includes Frequency Response Damping shocks, progressive springs, and re-engineered bushings improve Heavy Duty's ride quality. A rear air suspension features driver-activated Bed-Lowering Mode, Normal/Payload Mode, and Trailer-tow Mode.

A selection of technologies is available to help owners tow with confidence. A 360-degree surround-view camera with trailer reverse guidance assists drivers in maneuvering trailers by displaying an image of both sides of a trailer on a display-screen. Visibility is improved in and behind trailers with a new auxiliary exterior camera. The advanced trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems can monitor up to six pickup tires and 12 trailer tires with up to four trailer profiles.

Heavy Duty Lone Star models are equipped with Class V receiver hitches, electronic trailer brake controllers, and power trailer-tow mirrors.

The interior of the 2019 Heavy Duty lineup has been revamped with more refinement, comfort, convenience, and storage than any other truck in the segment. Two interior packages and four colors are offered. Buyers can choose to add an optional equipment group featuring a closed upper-dash door with the Lone Star nameplate badge, a power driver seat, and a Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen. Available seating options include two-passenger bucket, three-passenger bench, five-passenger bucket, or six-passenger bench.

Buyers can choose between 4x2 and 4x4 powertrains as well as Regular, Crew, and Mega Cab body configurations featuring a 6 ft.-4 in. bed length with Crew and Mega configurations and an 8 foot bed length with Regular and Crew configurations.

The 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine with a class-exclusive 8-speed automatic transmission is standard on the Heavy Duty Lone Star. The 6.7-liter High Output Cummins Turbo Diesel is available on Ram 3500 models, and the 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty are also available with an 850 Ib.-ft. Cummins.

A monochromatic Sport Appearance package and a Black Appearance package are available for buyers to personalize the exterior. Other groups include a Tow Tech Group and Safety Group.

Even more package options available with the Lone Star allow buyers to customize their truck with function-specific enhancements. These include a Bed Utility Group, a 4x4 Off-road Group, a Protection Group, a Max Towing Package, and a Premium Lighting Group.
